Honoring the Life and Legacy of Maj. Gen. Thomas Frederick Rew

Lisa Mantei remembers her friend, Maj. Gen. Thomas Frederick Rew (USAF, Ret.), who passed away peacefully at the age of 103. A beloved husband, father, and veteran, Gen. Rew led a life defined by faith, discipline, and kindness.

Throughout his decades of military service, from World War II through Vietnam, he exemplified courage and humility. Beyond the uniform, he was a man of compassion – devoted to his family, his church, and his community in Columbia, South Carolina.

Lisa and her husband, Rick, were grateful to count Gen. Rew as a friend and role model. “He represented everything we admire about that generation – strength, gratitude, and grace,” Lisa shared. “His legacy reminds us to live with purpose and to serve others with humility.”
